MediSync Smart Pill Dispenser — User Guide
Welcome, and thank you for choosing MediSync. Your dispenser flashes, beeps, and quietly keeps track of every dose — so taking your medication on time becomes effortless. This guide walks you through setup, daily use, and answers the questions we hear most often.
1. What’s in the box
- MediSync smart dispenser
- USB-C charging cable
- Quick-start card
A USB power adapter (any standard phone charger, 5 W or higher) is not included — you can use one you already own.
2. Get to know your dispenser
- Lid — lift the lid to take a dose. MediSync senses every opening and records it automatically. Opening the lid is also how you wake the device and put it into pairing mode during setup.
- Light ring — flashes to remind you visually when a dose is due, even when your phone is silent or in another room.
- Buzzer — beeps as an audible reminder. Volume is adjustable (Low / Medium / High).
- USB-C port — on the back of the unit near the base, for charging.
3. Download the app
MediSync is controlled from the free MediSync app.
- iPhone — Download on the App Store (includes Apple Watch and Lock Screen / Dynamic Island reminders).
- Android — Get it on Google Play (includes Wear OS support).
Create an account with your email, or sign in with Google or Apple. The app is completely free when paired with a MediSync dispenser.
4. Set up your dispenser in 5 steps
The app guides you through each step — here’s what to expect.
- Plug in. Connect the USB-C cable to the back of your MediSync and to any USB charger. Wait for the red charging light to appear.
- Pair. Open the app and tap Add Device, then lift the lid. This puts MediSync into Bluetooth pairing mode so your phone can find it. (Make sure Bluetooth is turned on and you’re within about 10 feet.)
-
Connect to Wi-Fi. Choose your home network and enter the password. MediSync uses Wi-Fi to sync your dose history and reminders.
Important: MediSync only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. If your home uses 5 GHz, look for a network name ending in “-2G”. - Connecting. Setup takes about 20 seconds. Keep your phone near the device.
- Done! Your MediSync is online. Close the lid and add your first medication.
5. Add your medications
Tap Add medication and follow the prompts:
- Name — whatever is easiest to recognize: a brand name (e.g. Lipitor), the generic (atorvastatin), or a nickname (“morning vitamin”). You can change it any time.
-
Schedule — choose how often you take it:
- Daily — the same time(s) every day
- Weekly — only on certain days of the week
- Monthly — on a specific day each month
- Times — add one or more times per day. MediSync reminds you — and flashes the dispenser — at each one.
You can add as many medications and schedules as you like.
6. How reminders work
When a dose is due, MediSync can remind you in several ways. Mix and match whatever suits you, per medication.
- Dispenser light — the light ring flashes. Choose when it starts (immediately, after a delay, or never), how often it pulses, and how long it keeps flashing (until you take the dose, or for a fixed time).
- Dispenser buzzer — the device beeps. Same controls as the light, plus a volume setting (High is best for noisy rooms or if you wear hearing aids).
- Phone notification — a push reminder on your phone. Use the offset to nudge you a few minutes early, on time, or as a follow-up.
- Live Activity (iPhone) — shows the dose as a live banner on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. Tap to mark as taken without opening the app.
- Snooze — if you don’t respond, MediSync gently reminds you again after a few minutes.
Taking a dose is simple: just open the lid. MediSync records it as taken, stops the reminder, and updates your history automatically.
7. Track your adherence
The app shows you, at a glance:
- Today’s adherence and your current streak
- Doses taken vs. scheduled
- Lid open history — every time the lid opened, matched to the nearest scheduled dose and labelled On time, Late, or Missed. Opened the lid by accident? Just delete the entry. Time slightly off? Tap to edit.
- A calendar view of your dose history over time
8. Caregivers & family sharing
You can invite a family member or caregiver to help keep an eye on your medication. People you add can see your medications and adherence and get an alert if you miss a dose — but they can’t make changes. Invite or remove caregivers any time from the app.
9. Charging & battery
- Charge with the included USB-C cable and any standard USB charger (5 W or higher).
- A red light shows while charging.
- The app displays the current battery level so you always know when a top-up is due.
10. Lights & sounds quick guide
| What you see / hear | What it means |
|---|---|
| Steady red light | Charging |
| Cheerful chirp when you open the lid during setup | Connected to your phone over Bluetooth |
| “Ta-da” melody | Setup finished successfully |
| Flashing light and/or repeated beeps | A dose is due — open the lid to take it |
11. Troubleshooting
The charging light won’t turn on. Try a different USB charger or cable. The device needs at least 5 W to power on.
My phone can’t find the device. Make sure Bluetooth is on, the lid is open, and your phone is within about 10 feet. Close and re-open the lid to re-trigger pairing mode.
Bluetooth permission was denied. Turn it back on in your phone’s settings under the MediSync app.
My Wi-Fi network isn’t in the list. MediSync only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Many routers broadcast separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks — choose the 2.4 GHz one (often ending in “-2G”).
Connection to Wi-Fi failed. Double-check your password, and try moving the dispenser closer to your router.
The device keeps reminding me after I’ve taken my dose. Reminders stop when the lid is opened. Make sure the lid fully opens and closes, and that the device is online (check the battery and Wi-Fi status in the app).
12. Tips for best results
- Keep the dispenser within Wi-Fi range so reminders and history stay in sync.
- Set the buzzer to High if you’re often in a noisy room or hard of hearing.
- Add a caregiver if you’d like a loved one alerted when a dose is missed.
- Top up the battery before it runs low — the app shows the level any time.
